Jo-Ann Nester, New Athletic Director, Settles In, Reviews Hawk Athletics

Jo-Ann Nester, Saint Anselm College's new Athletic Director, sits behind her desk in the basement of the Carr Center. Her office is still rather bare, although students and faculty alike can begin to understand why after observing her schedule. "I like it here," she says of the Carr Center, "but I just wish I had time to unpack.

Despite a 2-8 Record, Coach Murphy Confident

The Saint Anselm football team finished the 2009 season with 2 wins and 8 losses, with victories against Pace and Plymouth State. It matched their best season since 2005, and for this young team the only direction is up. In two years, coach Pat Murphy has been able to keep the team on an upward swing by bringing in young players that have taken on key roles.

Saint Anselm's Women's Ice Hockey team is off to a very promising start for the 2009-2010 season, with an overall record of 3-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Head coach Kerstin Matthews, returning for her second season with the Hawks after spending five years at Boston University, says, "Although the girls are young, the captains provide outstanding leadership," which seems to be proving successful.

Mens Basketball Set Up for Good Season with Early Wins Against Bentley, Franklin Pierce

The Saint Anselm Hawks basketball team has opened the season with a 3-1 overall record. The Hawks have won two straight of late, including a win against Bentley University who is ranked #5 in the NCAA Division II College Basketball Poll. The Hawks began the season with a win on the road at Holy Family 95-78.
